Different kind of E juice

Which e juice to choose and how?

E juice, vape juice, e liquid… there are tons of different options to choose from. Are you a bit confused about what e juice to buy? Have you been asked what flavour, what PG/VG ratio, MTL or DTL? And you were like,” Sorry, but I have no idea!” Don’t worry. Buying e liquid for the first time is fun and exciting but can also become frustrating, especially if you lack essential knowledge. We have collected a few facts, and useful info about e liquid to help you out.

Vape juice, e liquid, e juice are the same things. This is the ready fluid you put into your device and create large clouds and get a throat hit.

The main ingredients are VG (vegetable glycerin) and PG ( propylene glycol), flavourings, and nicotine ( this is optional). PG and VG can appear in different ratios in the juice depending on what you wish to achieve. For chasing great clouds, you add more VG. For a greater throat hit, you need a larger amount of PG. PG and VG are classified as sugar alcohols and are parts of many consumable products. Both produce vapour when heated and are safe to inhale.

MTL or DTL?

MTL juices are mouth to lunge juices, where you inhale the vapour to your mouth first and then into your lungs. PG/VG ratio in these are 50/50. Devices for MTL juices are for beginners and mainly starter kits. So for a first test, try these. Nic salts and MTL liquids are the way to go if you choose this option. On nic salts will talk about a bit later.

DTL juices are the other way round. You inhale the vape into your lungs straight away and create large, dense clouds. Not the same as smoking, but you still get your right nicotine level. If you buy juice with a higher VG ratio, this is the method you use and create more clouds.

Let’s see what else to consider when choosing the right vape juice.

Vape Juice Flavour

When you quit smoking and decide to start vaping, having flavours sounds exciting, but sometimes you start with tobacco anyway as that is what you are used to. Smoking suppresses taste buds, and basically, all you feel is tobacco. However, after quitting the bad habit, your taste buds start being alive again, and once you tried a fruity flavour, you will never stop. There are thousands of flavours that can be overwhelming, but you will find your preferable category with time. The main categories of flavours (https://vapestorm.co.uk/product-category/e-liquid/e-liquid-flavours/) are:

Nicotine level

In terms of nicotine, you can choose the option of not having any nicotine at all in your e juice or have different amounts in it. While smokers can’t precisely say how much nicotine they consume, vapers can see on their vape juice bottle how much mg of nicotine is in there. It is hard to find the perfect nicotine level at first, but you will get there with trial and error. It is also important what type of device you have. Here is a general guide to how to do it:

  • 0mg/ml- No nicotine in the juice. You vape for the pleasure of the clouds.
  • 3mg/ml – Best for light smokers or, in smoking terms, less than ten cigarettes a day. With this amount of nic level, you will get big clouds. It’s good to use powerful sub-ohm tanks and rebuildable atomizers.
  • 6mg/ml – For those who smoked between 10-20 cigarettes a day or smoked light cigarettes. Basically, every type of device is suitable for this strength, including pod systems, sub-ohm tanks, and airer MTL tanks. You can get clouds here, too but not as much as with the 3mg/ml.
  • 12mg/ml – Best for a previously heavy smoker ( up to 30 cigarettes a day). This amount will give you low vapour production and pod kits. MTL tanks are good with it.

For nicotine strength, the other option is nic salts. The nicotine type mentioned above is called freebase nicotine, which is generally used in e juices. Nic salts are created by adding benzoic acid to the freebase nicotine. Our article on nic salts and their strength will give you an idea.

Bottle size

In the EU, the size of the ready e juices are regulated, and you can buy a maximum size of 10 ml. Tank sizes are the same and regulated to a maximum of 2 ml. If you want to purchase shortfills, which are e juices not filled to the top to add your nic shots and create stronger juices, you can find 50ml, 100ml, 120ml ones.
